A woman with a secret…
The Federal Paranormal Unit is an elite squad of supernaturals dedicated to solving missing persons cases. Erica’s gift allows her a special connection with the crime, but it comes at a deep personal cost… Until now, she’s kept her gift a secret, even from the other members of the team. But this case will throw her together with Agent Trent Buchanan. He’s the object of her secret desires, but he’s also a cocky womanizer. She’d rather swim in shark-infested waters with a paper cut than admit she has feelings for him.
A man with one desire…
Wolf Shifter Trent wants Erica more than he’s ever wanted any woman. He’s spent years patiently waiting for her to admit that she wants him too. Working one-on-one in a race to find a serial killer, Trent’s patience and Erica’s resolve wear thin. When Trent discovers the truth about Erica, will he accept her for who she is? And can he protect her from the horrors that her gift brings?
A case that pushes them to the edge…
Erica will have to risk it all if she wants to stop the killer, and when she does, Trent may have to put his own life on the line to make sure his mate is protected…
I believe this is the first book of Milly’s that I had the pleasure of reading. Which is extremely odd because the majority, if not all of her books are of the PARANORMAL genre and if you know anything about me you know that PARANORMAL is my favorite freaking genre. Couple it with Erotica and Contemporary Romance and I’m in heaven! So yes, I’m in shock that it has taken me this long to read any of her books. That will change because after reading Wolf Protector I know for a fact now that I have been missing out and that’s not acceptable in my book.
”But be very clear, I want you. And I will have you. What we have hasn’t even begun, and it’s already consuming me.”
So let’s just starting off saying that I really enjoyed the plot of the story and the idea of a Federal Paranormal Unit…sounds very exciting with never any dull moments which is true after reading the story. I love the originality of it all. Each character in the unit has a special paranormal skill and you can only be apart of the FPU if you are indeed “paranormal.” Makes complete sense it’s insane.
“It’s doesn’t have to be difficult. Just come to bed and let me hold you. That’s all I want to do. Don’t you understand that I love being near you. That every moment I spend next to you makes me happy. Holding you in my arms is enough to give me peace.”
Erica is part of the unit and she has a very unique and strong skill/power. Whenever she allows herself to touch a deceased body she is taken back to the crime at hand and given tremendous clues into the crime scene. Not only does she decide to keep this skill a secret, she is also keeping the fact that she is more than crushing on Trent one of her partners on the FPU, not only to avoid him thinking she is a freak, but because he is a cocky womanizer.
“Seriously, babe,” he said while rubbing the backof his head, “you need to stop it with the violence. You know I’m ready to do your bidding. If you have some kind of fetish, I’m willing to explore that, but we have to agree to some limits.”
Trent on the other hand wants Erica more than he was ever wanted any other woman in his life. He has been patiently waiting for her to come around for years, but when they are on the race to find a serial killer and Erica’s secret comes out Trent does everything to help and protect his mate. And soon things start going the way he wants and Erica stops putting up a fight.
“That’s what I’m here for, to help you up whenever you fall. Nothing is ever going to be perfect. Take a chance on me, please.”
I’m not usually a fan of reading thrillers because I would much rather watch those in movies, but this story here has me reconsidering that overall. I think I can deal with it if it has some kind of romance in it.
If you are a fan of paranormal and suspense thrillers than you will love The Wolf Protector by Milly Taiden and you won’t want to wait to read the continuing sequel.
