Fun, sexy, heart felt read with a
touch of creepy and action from the start.
Who says a wild heart can’t be tamed?
For years, I lived for the job and let it control me. Violence was all I knew. I protected, killed, and served. My name is Blake Evans, one of the best undercover cops in the country. I thought I was about to live a quiet life on my ranch in Wyoming until an old friend showed up and changed everything. He brought me her, Hadley Rivers, country music sensation and the one woman I couldn’t have. I didn’t want her but she had me completely roped in.
My job is to protect her, to keep her away from some psycho who wants her for himself. However, there’s more to her story than I was led to believe. I promised to keep her safe and I won’t back down . . . even if I have to die trying. I can’t let him have her.
In L.P. Dover’s Armed & Dangerous sequel we meet Hadley Rivers who is forced to go under the radar to avoid landing in the hands of a psychopath that won’t let up. In order to keep her safe, she is whisked off with no choice in the matter to Wyoming where she will be under the protection of the best undercover cop in the country, Blake Evans.
And then all the fun begins. Blake immediately judges Hadley because she’s a country singer and thinks that she’s probably one of those celebs that is waited on hand and foot and doesn’t know how to really get her hands dirty and only cares about her. Hadley can tell from the get go that Blake doesn’t want her there and is purposely being nasty to her, but she doesn’t give in and decides to show Blake that she’s not what he thinks. The two go head to head and neither backs down. All the while fighting the intense sexual attraction to each other, but thinking that they can’t have the other for obvious reasons.
The story is a fun story to read. I’m not big on the whole cowboy aspects of books, but this one definitely worked for me because it wasn’t all about a die-hard cowboy, but an undercover cop turned cowboy. What intrigued me the most was the protective custody underlining of the story and how two lives meet that are from completely different worlds. The stalker situation added a bit of action to a love story with some twists and turns that I wasn’t expecting at all. I thought I had it all figured out and then by the end I was just in shock because I was totally off base about who was stalking Hadley. It was quite genius, I wasn’t expecting such a twist in the story. Felt like something I would go to the movies to see.
There are a lot of stories out today that mean to be action packed and fall flat, but this is one of the stories of L.P. Dover’s that delivers a bit more action than the rest of her stories. I would go as far as saying it had a bit more action in it than No Limit, the first book in the Armed & Dangerous series.
I can’t wait for the next installment.
