"There's never been a time I've cared about anything more than my club. Today that all changed. Today I got you."
To truly understand a story; you need to start from the beginning, but to start from the beginning; you have to go back, further than just you. After all, our stories don’t start with us, do they? Our stories start with the person before us, and the person before them. We are created from the stories of those people - from their mistakes, from their achievements, from their love and their hate.
No one’s story is ever truly their own.
I tried to create my own story, my own path, and my own actions. I’ve seen things people only see in their worst nightmares, but I never let it beat me down. I never let it become who I was. I picked myself up, and I kept going. Everything was what it was.
There was no point analyzing what it could be.
Could be’s didn’t matter.
Until Maddox came into the picture. He saved my life. He changed my world; giving me the second chance some of us only dream about. There was only one thing missing in my second chance, and she was the reason I fought so hard to survive.
My sister who is supposed to be dead, well, at least, that’s what I thought.
That’s what he told me.
Now is where my story changes, but to understand this story, you have to start at the beginning…where it all began…and before.
This story is the second book in a series. You can get the first book on all major retailers. (Precarious - Jokers' Wrath MC Book 1)
This contains no cliffhanger and has a HEA. 18+
Melancholy is the second book in the Jokers’ Wrath MC series. In this lovely gem we get involved in the lives of Maddox, the Jokers’ President and Santana, the woman he saved and has been protecting for the past five years. All while getting to know this two fire crackers, the Jokers’ still have the Tinmen MC to deal with continuing from incidents that took place in Precarious (Ash & Krypts story). Things have settled down a little with the war, but it has not been wrapped up and now the main target is Santana because she is so close and means so much to Maddox and Maddox is harboring a secret that could very well destroy any kind of relationship with Santana.
“When you get kissed for real, in the way that involves passion, you feel it right to your toes. My sex clenches, and a moan is wrenched from my lips as his mouth continues it’s slow, agonizing torture, exploring me until my fingers are clawing at his naked back” “That,” he growls, his voice low and husky, “is how it should feel when a man kisses you.”
In the end of Precarious, Maddox, Krypt and Ash have a bit of a somewhat threesome and one of the whores tells Santana. Santana reacts in a way that no one really saw coming. She storms out of the picnic at the club feeling betrayed by Ash and Maddox. The reaction she has shocks her as well. And this is where the story begins.
“So go ahead and fuckin’ hate me. Make me suffer for what I did. But know this, Santana: I’m gonna love you for every minute, every hour, every day, every month and every year for the rest of your life, because you’re the only person in my life that’s worth fightin’ for.”
I had an absolute blast reading this sequel in the series and to me each book just keeps getting better. What I love most is that even though the stories focus on a particular couple they still have bigger matters in the background and sometimes in the foreground, which then includes all the characters from book 1 and more. So even though the main story is about Maddox and Santana, Krypt and Ash are still very prominent in the story along with the family of bikers that belong to the Jokers’ Wrath. The chemistry between Maddox and Santana is explosive, yet they keep fighting their feelings for each other.
“I’m an asshole, I’m overbearing and controlling, and I’ll drive you fuckin’ crazy. But I can swear I’ll fuckin’ lay my life down for you, honey. Anytime. Anywhere.”
In this story, you find out just how much Maddox cares about Santana, and that their relationship is definitely not a father daughter type relationship. However, it is frustrating at times because of how much one of them fights the other on it, but that is what keeps the story very interesting. The protectiveness Maddox has over Santana is total Alpha Male and I love it. He interferes with her life on a level that would make any woman under his care what to punch him in the face, but you know it’s because he cares. She loves it even though she fights it pretty much the whole time. I love how Ash and Santana are really close even after the incident between Maddox, Krypt and Ash.
He laughs and curls his hand around the back of my neck. “If you look at me like that for the rest of my life, I’ll die a happy fuckin’ man.”
So much drama and tragedy happens in this story it makes your heart swell. It made me seriously tear up so many times, and I just didn’t think anything or anyone was going to come out of these horrid situations. It all made for a very compelling story. If you love MC books you will definitely love this heartfelt story.
